During the first part of June I got settled in my new apartment in Lomita. Adam and I went from seeing each other once every four months to once a week! We explored the local beaches and soaked up the famous California sun.
While Adam was slaving away in lab, I explored a bit of Hollywood. I took a walk on the Avenue of the Stars and saw a taping of the Craig Ferguson show (guest Jason Schwartzman promoted the movie Moonrise Kingdom). I went to a taping of The Voice blind auditions and saw Ceelo, Adam Levine of Maroon 5, Christina Aguilera, and Blake Shelton.
A stone's throw from my new home I found the South Bay Botanical Garden
I caught up with high school friend Jeannette who now teaches history in a Los Angeles area middle school
Toward the end of June I had a brief orientation at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center and began residency!
The Emergency Medicine residents got together for a meet and greet attending Dr. Birnbaumer's idyllic house in Palos Verdes.
Shortly after beginning my rotation on internal medicine I developed some horrible right-sided back pain and a rash. Turns out my first big diagnosis as an MD was a self-diagnosis: shingles!
