January 2013

2013 started off with a trip to the Ellen Show with co-workers Juliana and Andrea. Ellen was her usual hilarious self and we enjoyed seeing guests Bethany Frankel, Ricky Gervais, and Emma Stone.
Celebrations continued in 2013 with a 28th birthday dinner courtesy of Adam.
I hosted a dinner for applicants and had a record-breaking turnout from the intern class.
I made Mom's recipe for elk pepperoni pasta soup with meat from Dad's hunt, twice-baked potatoes, sweet bread in my new breadmaker, and lavender poppyseed cupcakes from a cookbook Sarah gifted me.
Adam and I enjoyed a day at the Cabrillo Aquarium in San Pedro followed by a stop at the Muller House Museum for a bit of local history.
An impromptu after-shift encounter in the parking lot spurred a late-night ramen run with co-interns Silas and Ami. Then back to delivering babies on Ob/Gyn during the workday.
After a picnic lunch at the scenic Del Cerro Park, Adam and I went for an afternoon hike.
Trekking through the Portuguese Bend Nature Reserve we looked out over the Pacific Ocean, Catalina Island, and even the Goodyear Blimp. The day ended with a perfect sunset.
The intern class got together for Sunday "Linner" to catch up over Peruvian seafood during a post-day shift, pre-night shift window.
